Saint-Trophime is an important pilgrimage church. The church was created with attention toclassical architectural form and detail. Considered a cathedral from the 12th to 19th centuries. Its interior is relatively modest, typical amoung pilgrimage churches of the period.

The 12th - 14th century cloisters are adjacent to the church, are known for the details of the sculptures. They would connect with pilgrimes enroute to Santiago de Compostela.
