Carpentras
A town that dates back to Roman times, and was the capital of the Comtat Venaissin, a papal state until annexzation to France in 1791. Today it remains a significant town, with the Carpentras Synagogue, built in 1367, being the oldest synagogue in France. the Cathédrale Saint-Siffrein dates to 1405.
Fountain of Angles is still actually used by residents for water.
The town has beautiful streets to explore.
