Vaugines
An old charming village with naturally decorated lanes of traditional stone houses. It is located well off the popular travel routes. The town has been used for movie locations due to its authentic look. No spectacular sights to see. Enjoy real 13th - 17th Century houses, and a quiet 12th Century Romanesque church and graveyard. I liked how the church was in a walled area, just outside the town centre and not crowded against the town's buildings. Not to create visitor traffic, I have read that author Peter Mayle (A Year in Provence) lived in Vaugines until his death in 2018.
