Piazza del Campidoglio

In 1500 Michelangelo created the first momumental piazza of modern Rome on the top of the hill that previously held one of Rome's most important temples. At the time that Michelangelo started his work there were two buildings on the hill. The Senate Building and the Palace of the Conservators.
