The 16th Century park, also known as the Park of the Monsters, commission by Pier Francesco Orsini, the park has larger-than-life sculptures. When is wife died, he created the gardens to cope with his grief. The park is described as not to please, but to astonish. It became overgrown, neglected and lost. Rediscovered in the 1950s it was restored and to day is a major tourist attraction.
